چکیده

Abstract In this study, epoxy hybrid nanocomposites reinforced by carbon fibers (CFs) were fabricated a filament winding. To improve out-of-plane (transverse) mechanical properties, 0.5 and 1.0 Wt.% multi-walled nanotubes (MWCNTs) embedded into epoxy/CF composites. The MWCNTs well dispersed the resin without using any additives. transverse properties of epoxy/MWCNT/CF evaluated tensile test in vertical direction to CFs (90º tensile) flexural tests. fracture surfaces composites studied scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM observations showed that bridging is one mechanisms enhancement results 90º proved strength elongation at break nanocomposite with improved up 53% 50% comparison laminate composite, respectively. Furthermore, strength, secant modulus, epoxy/1.0 MWCNT/CF increased 15%, 7%, 9% compared

High-velocity impact properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes/E-glass fiber/epoxy anisogrid composite panels

This work reports the high-velocity impact response of multiscale anisogrid composite (AGC) panels. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the influence of surface-modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (S-MWCNTs) at different S-MWCNTs contents (0-0.5 wt.% at an interval of 0.1 wt.%) on the high-velocity impact responses of E-glass/epoxy AGC. Surface modification of MWCNTs is confirmed by ...

Mechanical properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes reinforced polymer nanocomposites

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs ) are considered to be one of the novel reinforcement for developing advanced nanocomposites due to their outstanding thermo-mechanical properties. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs ) are developed by arc discharge method. To enhance the dispersion of CNTs in polymer matrix, CNTs are modified with chemical treatment and processed by ultrasonication process. Surface ch...

Basalt fiber–epoxy laminates with functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes

Cross-ply laminates reinforced with basalt fibers and functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were fabricated from unidirectional epoxy prepregs. MWCNTs with varied surface conditions were prepared by oxidization or esterification, and then dispersed into a DGEBA epoxy system. The dispersion of the MWCNTs in the epoxy was improved by surface modification, resulting in improved com...
